Overview
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India. It assesses laboratories against ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, and grants accreditation for a defined scope of tests. A test report carrying NABL accreditation gives buyers, regulators and courts confidence that the result came from a competent lab using a validated method.
Many buyers simply ask for “a NABL report”. In practice, getting the right one needs care: the laboratory must be accredited for the specific test, standard and product range you need, and some schemes accept only laboratories recognised by a particular authority.
Aaditech helps you make those choices, coordinates the testing and reviews the result.
Note: Aaditech is an NABCB-accredited inspection body (ISO/IEC 17020). It is not a NABL-accredited laboratory. Testing is carried out by independent NABL-accredited or BIS-recognised laboratories.
What we test
| Product area | Typical tests arranged |
|---|---|
| Wires, cables and conductors | Conductor resistance, insulation, mechanical, flame and type tests |
| Lighting and LED products | Photometry, safety, endurance, LM-79, IP rating |
| Household and electrical appliances | Safety to IS 302 series, performance, energy tests |
| Switchgear, meters and transformers | Type and routine tests to IS and IEC standards |
| Electronics and IT products | Safety, EMC and RF tests |
| Building and engineering materials | Physical, chemical and mechanical tests (on request) |
Where a test is needed that no accredited laboratory currently offers in India, we discuss alternatives with you, such as a laboratory abroad or a recognised non-accredited facility, and explain how the receiving authority is likely to view the report.
Who it’s for
- Manufacturers needing accredited test reports for a tender, a customer or a certification.
- Importers who must produce test evidence for regulated goods.
- Buyers and project owners who want independent testing of samples from a supply.
- Government and PSU purchasers specifying accredited testing in their contracts.
Our process
- Clarify the requirement. We confirm why the test is needed: tender, regulation, certification or customer, and what the receiving party will accept.
- Identify the tests and standard. We set out the test list against the correct edition of the standard.
- Check the lab’s scope. We confirm on NABL’s published scope, and BIS recognition where needed, that the laboratory is accredited for those exact tests.
- Prepare and dispatch samples. We help you prepare samples, labels and test requests so the lab has no grounds to delay.
- Track and review. We follow up on progress and review the report for product identification, standard references, results and accreditation marking.
- Use the report. We support submission to BIS, tender authorities or your customer, and help resolve any queries.
Standards & references
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017: general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, the basis of NABL accreditation.
- ISO/IEC 17020:2012: requirements for inspection bodies, accredited in India by NABCB, not NABL.
- ILAC MRA: the international arrangement through which accredited test reports gain wider acceptance.
- BIS laboratory recognition: BIS recognises laboratories for testing under its certification and registration schemes.
Why Aaditech
- We know how labs work. Our CEO, Mr B.K. Jain, headed the BIS electrical laboratory, and our team understands test methods, uncertainty and reporting.
- Accreditation literacy. As an accredited inspection body ourselves, we know how to read a scope of accreditation and spot where a report would not be covered.
- Independent choice of lab. We have no ownership interest in any laboratory, so we recommend on fit, capability and acceptability.
- Fewer surprises. Checking scope and standards up front avoids reports that look official but are rejected by the authority you submit them to.
