Mr Jain has over three decades of experience in standards, certification, inspection, conformity assessment, testing and the power sector. He has held important assignments with the Government of India and the Government of NCT of Delhi.
At the Bureau of Indian Standards he was Secretary of national technical committees for several electrical products and helped formulate standards in key areas. He headed the BIS electrical laboratory, with overall charge of testing electrical products, and led certification and conformity assessment for steel, cement, chemicals, polymers, textiles, electrical and electronic products across BIS branch offices. He also handled international relations, including WTO, IEC and ISO matters, MoUs and trade negotiations.
As Joint Director at the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission he worked on tariff fixation, electricity disputes, the Electricity Act, energy audits and energy efficiency.
He has represented India and Aaditech at ISO, IEC and WTO forums and in meetings across the USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He is a trained auditor for ISO 9001 (quality management), IS 15700 (service quality) and ISO 50001 (energy management). He knows the technical, operational and administrative sides of the BIS Act schemes in depth: product certification, ISI, FMCS and CRS.
