Overview
A well-planned laboratory pays for itself in faster quality decisions, fewer rejected lots and smoother certification audits. A badly planned one ties up capital in equipment that cannot perform the tests your standard demands. Most of the difference is decided before any equipment is bought.
Aaditech’s laboratory setup service helps manufacturers, institutions and testing start-ups plan, equip and commission laboratories, from a basic in-house test room for BIS certification to a laboratory being prepared for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
The service draws directly on our leadership’s experience. Our CEO, Mr B.K. Jain, headed the BIS electrical laboratory and understands what it takes to run a laboratory whose results stand up to scrutiny.
Note: We provide consulting and procurement support. Accreditation of a laboratory is granted by NABL, and recognition for BIS schemes by BIS; we prepare you for those assessments but do not grant them.
What we cover
| Stage | What we provide |
|---|---|
| Scope definition | Test list drawn from your product standards, certification scheme and customer specifications |
| Facility planning | Layout, space, power supply, earthing, environmental conditions and safety |
| Equipment specification | Technical specifications matched to each test method, range and accuracy |
| Procurement support | Vendor shortlisting, technical evaluation of offers, inspection of equipment before dispatch where required |
| Installation and commissioning | Verification of installation, calibration and performance checks |
| Systems | Documentation, method validation and records structured on ISO/IEC 17025 |
| Training | Hands-on training for operators on test methods and equipment |
Typical laboratories we support are for wires and cables, lighting and LED products, household appliances, switchgear and wiring accessories, transformers and motors.
A common mistake is to buy equipment from a catalogue before the test scope is settled. We work the other way round: each instrument on the list is traced back to a clause in a standard, with its required range, resolution and accuracy, so you can justify every purchase to your management and to an assessor.
Who it’s for
- Manufacturers applying for BIS certification that must show in-house testing capability.
- Existing factories upgrading their test rooms for new products or revised standards.
- Third-party and institutional laboratories preparing for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
- Educational and research institutions setting up teaching or research laboratories in electrical testing.
Our process
- Requirement study. We review your products, standards, certifications and production volumes, and visit the site.
- Scope and gap analysis. We list the tests you must perform, compare them with your existing equipment and identify gaps.
- Design and specification. We propose a layout and prepare equipment specifications and a budgetary estimate.
- Procurement. We help shortlist suppliers, evaluate offers technically and check equipment against specification.
- Commissioning. We verify installation, calibration and initial performance, including trial tests on known samples.
- Systems and training. We help set up procedures, records and staff training, ready for internal use, BIS assessment or ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
Standards & references
- ISO/IEC 17025:2017: general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
- NABL accreditation requirements and assessment criteria.
- BIS product certification requirements, including the manufacturer’s in-house testing obligations in the relevant scheme.
- The product standards (IS and IEC) that define each test method and its equipment.
Why Aaditech
- Laboratory leadership. Our CEO headed the BIS electrical laboratory, and our team understands test methods from the inside.
- Standards-first planning. We start from the standard and the test method, which keeps equipment purchases focused on what you actually need.
- Independent advice. We do not represent any equipment brand.
- Accreditation awareness. As an accredited inspection body ourselves, we know what assessors look for in documentation and practice.
